			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The CTE House #25 is now ready to go and we would invite interested parties to make an appointment to view it.  House #25  is a 1248 sq. foot,  3 bedroom ranch style house that can be moved to your prepared building lot.  Bid packets can be obtained by contacting Ms. Tina Rohrbaug, Administrative Coordinator at the TST BOCES, 555 Warren road, Ithaca, NY  14850 (607.257.1551). </p>
<p>The general public is invited to view house #25.  To schedule an appointment, please contact the Office of Career and Technical Education between the hours of 8 AM and 3 PM at 607.257.1551 ext. 257.  Properly sealed bids will be recieved until Thursday, August 6, 2009 at 10:00 AM at which time bids will be opened.</p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><span>On Tuesday, October 7 at 6:30 PM, TST BOCES Career &amp; Tech Center held the inaugural induction of the TST Chapter of the National Technical Honor Society (NTHS), America’s highest award for career &amp; technical education by inducting 8 students from area high schools with an inspiring ceremony. Led by principal, Mr. Perry Dewey, faculty and staff members explained the significance of the NTHS emblem and held a candle lighting ceremony. Dr. Ellen O’Donnell, the TST BOCES District Superintendent, gave closing remarks.</span></p>

		<description><![CDATA[Area High School Seniors from New Visions Take Top Honors in Leadership Event]]></description>

<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: left;"> The state finalists representing the central region of New York State were decided on Saturday, March 7th at the central region Career Development Events of the New York State FFA Association held in Cazenovia, New York.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: left;"><span>Aurora Ulbing a high school senior from Newfield Central School placed first in the job interview contest while Bryan Curtis, a senior at Ithaca High School and Lynne Adams also a senior from South Seneca placed second and third respectively.<span>  </span>All three are students in the New Visions in Life Sciences program at Cornell University a program operated by the Tompkins-Seneca-Tioga BOCES.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: left;"><span>The National FFA Job Interview Career Development Event is designed for FFA members to develop, practice and demonstrate skills needed in seeking employment. Each part of the event simulates “real world” activities that will be used by real world employers.<span>  </span>Students prepare a resume, cover letter, references, complete a job application and sit for a formal interview.<span>  </span>Following the job interview, students complete a follow-up letter.<span>  </span>Students apply for jobs for which they are qualified.<span>  </span>They are interviewed by a panel of judges.<span>  </span>During Saturday’s event, because of the large number of students competing, the New Visions students took part in qualifying rounds.<span>  </span>The top two students from each qualifying round then competed in a final round of interviews where the New Visions students took the top three spots.<span>  </span></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: left;"><span>Eighteen students competed in this event – the Central Region Sub-state event having qualified at their district level.<span>  </span>The district event was held at the Southern Cayuga Central School where 33 students from the eastern Fingerlakes (Moravia, Tully, Southern Cayuga, Cayuga-Onondaga BOCES and Homer) FFA Chapters competed for an invitation to advance to the substate event.<span>  </span>Aurora and Bryan will compete at the New York State Finals in Grahamsville (Sullivan County) at the New York State FFA Convention in May.<span>  </span>The first place winner will represent New York at the national finals in Indianapolis, Indiana in October.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: left;"><span>Also competing at the sub-state event was Gerra Goff (Newfield) who competed in the Extemporaneous Public Speaking event where she place fifth.<span>  </span>Eugene Sparks (Lehman Alternative Community School) placed 4th in the prepared public speaking event with his speech on sustainability. </span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: left;"><span>The New York State FFA Association has 90 chapters with 4,010 members and 507,763 FFA members nationally aged 12-21 in 7,439 chapters in all 50 states, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands.<span>  </span>Members prepare for leadership and careers in science, business and technology in the field of agriculture and environmental science.<span>  </span>Local, state and national programs provide opportunities for students to apply knowledge and skills learned in the classroom.<span>  </span><span> </span></span></p>
